Bonnard Pierre (1867-1947) stayed in the Cannet from 1922 to 1947. He rents three villas before acquiring in 1926 "the Grove", a House on the heights of the city where he retired permanently from 1939 until his death in 1947.
The landscapes of Los Angeles and the light of noon are inexhaustible sources of inspiration.
It was during this period, which lasts almost 22 years, he painted his most inspired paintings, whose specialists agree that they are his best works. Bonnard will produce more than three hundred works in le Cannet, some intimate, inspired by his private universe (the inside of his house, garden), but also of the landscapes of the city and, more generally, lunch, where the subject is the pretext to an explosion of color and light and the development of a new pictorial space.
Bonnard Museum is located in a beautiful Belle Epoque building of the twentieth century "Hotel Saint-Vianney". The duo of architects, Frédéric Ferrero and Sylvie Rossi has succeeded, with contemporary extensions to the image of the work that they honor. Subtle and bright, an ode to the Mediterranean;
