Dedicated to one of the most prestigious French traditional activities, the International Museum of perfumery is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the international heritage of the smells, flavours and fragrances. It allows visitors to discover the history and the originality of the craft industry and the large houses of perfumery.
You will address the history of perfume in its different aspects: raw materials, manufacturing, industry, innovation, trading, marketing, design, uses.
In all civilizations, perfumes have been an amazing production of precious and refined objects in rare materials: Alabaster, earthenware, glazed, ceramic, glass, ornate metal. Through exceptional collections of objects and situations of different industrial techniques, the museum traces the history of perfumes and soaps, make-up and cosmetics, for four thousand years.
This Museum of the 21st century looks at the past, but also on the present or even the foresight if we think about the section on the era of globalization, communication, marketing and new markets.

Of course, you can't leave without visiting in The gardens of the MIP : rose centifolia, jasmine, tuberous, lavender, geranium, genet, orange..., perfumes are born first in the plants here or besides. In the unique setting of the gardens of the International Perfume Museum, we discovered and feels these species that provide valuable material for centuries first of perfumery.
The gardens are beautifully installed around an old canal and an agricultural pool, and at the heart of the fields of perfume plants traditionally cultivated in the country of Grasse. They constitute the Conservatory of plants with scent of the Museum, a space natural witness of the olfactory landscape related to local agriculture.
